1967-1972
During his first residency in New York, USA, Francisco Copello specialized in contemporary and experimental printmaking techniques through his studies at the Pratt Graphics Center. He also set up his own studio with musician Fernando Torm, known interchangeably as Studio 69 or Studio F, where he produced graphic works on a larger scale. In this same studio, and influenced by his collaborations with choreographer Laura Dean and playwright Robert Wilson, he made his first foray into Body Art with the photo-performance "The Last Supper," a living tableau of Leonardo da Vinci’s Renaissance masterpiece, and began his journey into bodily, autobiographical, and multidisciplinary experimentation.
