1983-1984
In his final years in Italy, Copello directed the subject matter of his performances toward the domains of show business and cinema, having been drawn since childhood to the spectacle and pathos of Hollywood stars. Thus “Lana Turner” was born, a dramatization of this actress’s turbulent life, marking a shift toward more radical experimentation with gender role-playing, while simultaneously drawing on pop culture as a resource for reflecting on his identity.
