Excerpt from the Declaration of principles of the Occupation of the City of New York, 2011.
Assembly (Assembly) is a rubbing of the steps of the Zuccotti Park called Liberty Square (Freedom Square) during Occupy Wall Street, site of the occupation and in the general assembly that occurred between September and November 2011, in New York, claiming the public space as a common good, and not as a private business.
Benitez made this rubbed a year after the decision of the square, which ended with the forced eviction of activists by the police. In the midst of the realization of its rubbed, Benítez was interrupted by private security guards, leaving the piece unfinished.
